Help Shape Hamilton’s Road Safety Future: Vision Zero Action Plan (2026–2031)
The City of Hamilton is developing its next Vision Zero Action Plan, which will guide road safety initiatives from 2026 to 2031. This follows the City’s first Vision Zero Action Plan (2019–2025). We are engaging residents, visitors, and businesses to help inform this next phase and ensure it reflects the community’s experiences and priorities when it comes to roadway safety.
What is Vision Zero?
Vision Zero is a global movement aimed at eliminating all traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries. It originated in Sweden in 1997 and has since been adopted by various cities worldwide. The City of Hamilton uses this framework to continuously improve road safety for all users, drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike.
Vision Zero Focus Areas:
Eliminate fatalities and serious injuries
Improve roadway strategies for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists
Implement road safety initiatives to reduce societal costs
What Will This Engagement Inform?
Your input will:
Help identify key concerns and priorities around road safety in Hamilton
Guide the development of the 2026–2031 Vision Zero Action Plan
Shape targeted strategies to reduce traffic-related injuries and deaths
How Can You Participate?
The Vision Zero survey asks for your views on roadway safety, collision factors, and the experiences of pedestrians and cyclists. You can engage in this survey online on Engage Hamilton or you can come see us in-person at multiple upcoming community-pop up events to share your thoughts and tell us more!
The success of the 2026–2031 Vision Zero Action Plan depends on input from the people who use Hamilton’s roads every day. Your feedback will directly influence how the City sets road safety goals and implements future strategies.

The City of Hamilton developed its first Vision Zero Action Plan (2019–2025) in alignment with the City's 2016–2025 Strategic Plan and is now working on a new 2026–2031 Vision Zero Action Plan. Vision Zero takes a data-driven approach to road safety, with the goal of reducing traffic-related serious injuries and fatalities toward the only acceptable goal: zero.
The purpose of this survey is to collect data and public input to help update the Vision Zero Action Plan and improve road safety strategies in the City of Hamilton.
The survey will take about ten to fifteen minutes to complete.
Participation is voluntary, and you can stop at any time.
Your answers are anonymous and will be combined with others and summarized in a report.
Please complete the survey only once.
